For spring break this year I decided to travel to Dauphin Island, Alabama to photograph some birds. Dauphin Island is a birding hotspot, so I hope that I will have an opportunity to photograph some beautiful birds.
I started the day exploring the layout of the island and planning what to do first. I decided to check out the east beach and when I arrived, there were four people out in the beach meadow with their cameras and binoculars. One of the men in the group waved me over so he could point out what they were looking at, a scissor-tailed flycatcher. What a beautiful bird! I had never even heard of this bird and I really enjoyed watching it perform its acrobatics!
I also saw two scarlet tanagers right where I am staying. One was a juvenile male and his coloring amazing!
This blue grosbeak was busy eating berries in a field by the beach. He allowed me to follow him and I got a variety of great shots.
I plan on heading out bright and early tomorrow morning. I wonder what I will see?
Beautiful photos. The flycatcher is certainly a stunning bird. And i love the colours of the grosbeak.

All your photos are fantastic, but Mr. Scissortail’s portrait deserves a wall spot!! Keep up the great work. Eyes to the skies rewards you the prize. 😀
