The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me! Family visits, a wedding, hanging out with my grandchildren, and I have started back to work after being on summer vacation. Friday my friend Bill and I went for our last hiking trip before school starts. We checked out a couple of places along the Mississippi River in Iowa. The highlight of my day was spotting an arrowshaped micrathena (micrathena sagittata). I have a healthy fear of spiders (some might call it a phobia) but I have learned to appreciate their beauty!

She’s a purdy one! Great spotting and a great day at that. I was whipped when I got home!

Two years ago I would have never guessed that one day I would think of spiders as pretty:) Hiking with you is always a great day! I really enjoyed visiting Bellevue

Yowsah, what a creature! It looks like a crustacean, and not a “bug.” Very stunning images, as always. I wonder if they make a “Superlative Finder” app for iPhone, because I’m rapidly running out.
Hey, why do you have to go back to work so soon? Even most colleges aren’t back in session yet.

Thanks Charles! She has to be the prettiest spider I have ever seen!
I am an elementary technologist for our school district. So, I have been working on updating and re-imaging iPads (next is computers) so that they are ready to go on the first day.
